Rationale
Governments make many of the key decisions that determine whether as a society we take up renewable energy or put in energy efficiency measures, or whether scientific research is undertaken into new technologies.
No Governments is doing enough to create a sustainable energy future, we will encourage them to do so.
Futureenergy.org differs from the major environmental groups in our political campaigning as will recommend who to vote for. Major environmental groups do not do this because they have been backed into a courner by the federal government are afraid of loosing their tax deductibility status.

Federal Election Campaign 2004 - put Howard last!
There are three components to our federal election campaign.
1. The website www.fart.fm
We have produced a we site that alerts visitors to the inadequacies with John Howard's energy and climate change policies.
It highlights the Howard Government's
- Encouragement of the use of polluting fossil fuels like coal
- Failure to set long term targets on greenhouse gas reduction
- Failure to increase the renewable energy target
- Failure to set a target for energy efficiency
- Encourage continued coal use through geosequestration - a risky, unproven and expensive technology
FART stands for "Friends All of Renewable Technology".
2. The "Who Farted video"
We a produced a video that highlights the failure of the Howard energy policy.
The video is base around the concept of greenhouse gas emissions being silent but deadly.
The video is pretty funny and worth a look at.
It is about 2 meg so is best used using broadband or if you are prepared to wait a few minute on a slow connection.
If you like please tell your friends to visit the site and have a look.
3. The "Silent but deadly" cards
Thousand's of "Silent but Deadly" cards for distribution in marginal electorates that urge voters to put Howard last on their ballot papers.

Lobbying
|
Lobbying
Many politicians have very little understanding about energy issues and the impacts of climate change.
We are currently developing lobbying material.

Actions
|
Actions
Actions are good opportunities to get a sustainable energy message across in a dramatic way that can attract the interest of media and politicians.
Futureenergy.org's campaigners held a successful demonstration outside the Liberal Party's State Council meeting in Hawthorn in April 04.
An extinction cake was delivered to Dr Kemp's Office, to mark the Liberal party's Dr Kemp's time as Federal Environment minister as part of the Federal Election 04 campaign.

Rallies
|
Rallies
We have run two rallies, the Wind Rally in November 2003 and the Clean Energy rally in 2004. they were supported by a large number of environment groups, but were only attended by 100 and 50 people respectfully.
Public awareness about energy issues and climate change needs to be built up until 1000's of people attend rallies in support of a sustainable energy future and stopping climate change.
Left - one of the reasons we campaign for sustainable energy
Right - Democrat Senator Lyn Allison at the rally

Leafleting
|
Leafleting
Leafleting is a simple way to deliver a message to a broad audience.
Last Christmas we leafleted 20,000 fliers in Hawthorn, with a strong message on climate change and energy issues.
We are soon to be leafleting a number of marginal seats for the federal election.
